The Staples Rotary Club was treated to a preview of the video “The State of Wolves in Minnesota” at our April 3 meeting. Ray Gildow, producer and host, of Lakeland Currents on Lakeland Public Television. With his grandson and son-in-law he produced the video about wolves in the Greater Voyageurs Ecosystem.  One of his guests was Tom Gable, project lead for Voyageurs Wolf Project, noted  improvements in trail cameras and GPS tracking collars has greatly contributed to research into wolf behavior and interactions.
Another guest was Peggy Callahan, founder and executive director of the Wildlife Science Center near Stacy, Minn., a non-profit education ad research facility. The center's expertise is often sought by international, national, and regional institutions, regarding the care, handling, breeding and ecological significance of wolves. The center has limited hours and is available for private programs.
The video is expected to air on public television later in April or May.
