I have spent a bit of time coming up to speed with the recent history and projects pending and historical.

The water front seat annual inspection and tidy is about to begin with an initial spray with moss killer. Lionel and Jill have put their hands up for this. The spray is supplied by Russell McClean. We will have a team with Buckets brooms and and stiff brushes to follow up a fortnight later. The seats are generally in very good order.

I am awaiting prices for seats and signage, to proceed with the Water Park / Franks Dell  project beside the Trout Viewing setup. The proposed signage will be opposite DOC H.Q and the seat will probably overlook the pond. Most of the ground work for this project was done by Marie. Once the trees are gone I am sure this area will have real potential for further beautification.  A project for a future Director ?

The kids furniture at the Bird Park is in need of a coat of stain as it sits outside. This will be done some summer evening after work and will not  take long. With the bird life in that area what better way to spend an evening ?
An area along the cycle trail surmounted by a memorial garden to Caroline Carter needs some assistance both to restrict unauthorised entry and to form a retaining wall to retain the bank above the track. I am in the process to source suitable timber and materials. If any members would like to add their input to method or design I would be very grateful. Just ring me on 2497368 to arrange a site visit.
We will also need some soil or fill to put against the wall. Perhaps a builder needing to remove some site soil. Please keep an ear to the ground.

The area under the welcome sign where the rotary Logo is displayed on the entrance to town is a mess and is in need of a working bee. This area was planted with the assistance of a RYLA group at the end of their course. I remember that many of them had never planted anything in their lives and how buzzed up they were. I would be sad if they saw it now. I will try to spray the grass that has taken over and then call a working bee to deal with the results

None of the dates that Borland Lodge gave us were suitable or clashed with the operation of the chip van, so It will happen next year.

If any one sees a need or would like suggest other projects that Rotary could or should be involved, please advise me

Regards Doug.
