Only 20 members and one guest were present at this meeting, but we knew that there would be a great turnout at the Golf Tournament the next day.

Our Guest Speaker was Rosie Boxall.  Rosie is in NZ thanks to a Rotary Global Grant Scholarship.  She is hosted here in Auckland by the RC of Otahuhu and living in Ponsonby.  She is studying for a Master of Arts in Sociology at the University of Auckland and her research project is looking at how Pākehā New Zealanders respond to learning about New Zealand’s history (and other societal issues), and the implications (and potential) this has for peace-building and relationship building.

Rosie's primary sponsoring Rotary Club in the UK is the RC of Baldock and they are supported by 8 other Rotary Clubs in South East England.  Rosie spoke to us about her significant studies in the UK, (Cambridge), Canada and New Zealand and her Rotary journey.  It was a fascinating story and one that to appreciate the full extent of, you needed to be present to hear her talk.

Rosie and her partner love the outdoors and they are very much enjoying what New Zealand has to offer.  To date she has walked 5 of the New Zealand Great Walks!

Rosie indicated to us after the meeting that some members had asked for her email, which is:  rosalynd.boxall@auckland.ac.nz
