Another great turnout and another opportunity for this Pres. Elect to stand in for President Allan.  It was pleasing to see the RSA busy, hosting a BCITO awards night and a few locals in for dinner.
Thank you Robin for visiting Kelvin Road School to distribute books – Robin spoke about Kereru Campus (the old Papakura School), full Maori emergence school with everything done in Te Reo, which has doubled in size since last year.
Mike & I visited RYPEN on Saturday afternoon, spending time with Ainie Kwok; talking with the Rylarian leaders and watching groups on the high ropes (we were invited to watch by two of the instructors who Mike taught at Edgewater College!).
On Friday the attendees brain-stormed  “what is a leader?”  and it was interesting to read the groups’ ideas – “good communication” -  “heroic” – “earns respect” – “a leader must be committed and leads by example” – “good listener” were some. Ainie could not speak enough about the support Papakura Rotary gives to the RYPEN in providing gear, helping on site, taking an interest as visitors by & sent her  heartfelt thanks to the club.   This was Mike & my second visit to Kokako Lodge – the first was for the last working bee so it was great to experience the camp in operation.
Due to Easter, this week is a fellowship night for dinner & drinks, with no formal meeting.
The following Thursday President Allan is looking forward to inducting our two proposed members, Linda and Jing.  It will also be Committee meeting night (carried over from 1st April).
Wishing you all the best for the Easter, travel safe & enjoy whatever you have planned for the extended weekend.
Pres. Elect Sue
