Weekly meeting – Tuesday 23/07/2019

Jackie Edmond

Chief Executive – Family Planning

The New Zealand Family Planning Association, known as Family Planning, is the largest specialist provider of sexual and reproductive health services in New Zealand, with some 240 staff. It has an extensive network of clinical and health promotion services, along with an international programmes unit that works across the Pacific. The organisation was established in New Zealand in 1936, primarily to advocate for better access to contraception.

Jackie Edmond has been Chief Executive of Family Planning since September 2006. With a professional background in psychiatric nursing and health management, her working career has been entirely in the health sector. She is the public and media face of the organisation as an advocate for improved access to sexual and reproductive health services both here and across the Pacific.

Jackie has been on many government delegations in the Pacific and with the United Nations. She is the Deputy Chair of the Council for International Development Board and is on the Steering Committee for the upcoming International Conference on Population Development to be held in Nairobi in November 2019.

Jackie will talk briefly about the history of Family Planning and about why New Zealand’s abortion law should be reformed.

Please note:

Breakfast meeting registrations close at 11 a.m. on the Monday. For a short time after this, it may be possible to request changes via President Byran.
