End Trachoma for Indigenous in Northern Territory

Melissa Hebbard, Member of District 9790 Rotary Club of Milawa Oxley, is our special guest speaker this week. Melissa is District leader of the End Trachoma in NT 2020 Project.

Australia is the only developed Country with the infectious eye disease, Trachoma. Remote Aboriginal Communities still suffer from the disease due to poor hygiene. In 2016 Rotary Clubs around Australia formed the Project to End Trachoma by 2020. District 9790 responded thru the energy of Melissa. So far, 2000 children in Central Australia have been assisted.

Last month Eltham Rotary, with Kevin Hadingham as our champion, also became involved with the delivery of 50 toiletry kits to the Atitjere School in the NT.

This meeting again promises to be excellent. Melissa will detail the Project, its achievements and what is still to be done. Perhaps other opportunities for Eltham Rotary.
