GUEST SPEAKER:   A Business Meeting

As our goals and objectives are being set over the next few weeks by our Board and their committees for the Rotary Citation, the club Strategic Plan and  annual activities, President asked each member what is we liked about our club, what things we want changed and what new things we can do going forward.

Here are some of the member thoughts, comments and ideas:

  • I always look forward to Tuesday night. Being with friends at our meeting is such a nice feeling.

  • We need more meetings where we go out to the community and do “hands on “projects instead of our dinner meeting

  • We have a number of members that do not go on to our Zoom meetings. Glad we have Lennis and Janice who call them often, to make sure they are okay.

  • We could still use Zoom meeting , once we get back to our regular dinner meetings, for committee meetings and also if we have to cancel a regular meeting (for a snow storm for example)

  • Opinions on “zoom” meetings were mixed – some like, most miss the in person contact and will be glad to see one another again – suggest ”zoom” could be used for committee meetings and as an emergency measure; it is convenient especially for those who travel and may work late. For some it is just “too much computer”!!

  • Comradery in our club is great and fun

  • What fundraising projects can we do during the COVID-19 pandemic. We need to be creative.

  • Janice has a “call out” to our club members – she is looking for more club members to service on the community service and youth committees

  • Let’s formalize “friends of Rotary” who come to our fundraising events and to our community service events to help out

  • President Sue shared some additional ideas and thoughts: She encouraged everyone to share ideas!  Everyone is the club!  If you have any idea, big or small, let it be known.  This is a difficult time and your input, suggestions and ideas to fundraise are appreciated! She noted that we do have Comradery: the feeling of friendliness, goodwill and familiarity among people in a group!

Discussion re Returning to the Golf Club for Meetings

David Andrews has talked to Holly and shared the following –

  • Served meals – no buffet

  • Maximum 50 per room

  • Golf Club will make a copy of our Weekly attendance sheet for tracking purposes

  • There will be more discussion prior to our return to the Golf Club, but we have a tentative date of Tuesday August 18.
