ANNOUNCEMENTS    

Sandy announced that the Bingo from this past Saturday went very well. We were only short $1.00. Great Job Team. Sandy announced that the revenue for the month of December amounted to approximately $1100.00.

Janice announced that we will have our Rotary Valentine’s Day dinner at Wildfire on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. There will be a set menu.

Kris announced that he has been in to visit with Dave Andrews before this evening’s meeting. He doing well. He has had some swelling probably by walking too much.

Robbie announced that Reverse draw tickets are now available for distribution and sale. Kindly see him for tickets, kindly remember this is one of our annual major fundraisers.

Ted announced that it is time to begin looking for silent auction merchandise and services for our Reverse Draw. Once again if each Rotarian could find two or three S/A items that would make the auction a great success.

Linda announced that on January 31 the Savour the Flavour event at Deer Creek is nearing being sold out. Savour The Flavour – Fundraiser Gala  - Whitby Sunrise Rotary Club -$85 per person – at Deer Creek Golf Club - This much-anticipated event showcases 12 local restaurants under one roof and, through the Rotary Club of Whitby Sunrise, raises funds for scores of community organizations and worldwide initiatives. During the evening you can choose your favourite dish from just one restaurant, or if your taste buds are excited, sample them all!

This fundraising event will have more than delicious food!  You will enjoy the company and competition with friends as you browse the silent auction items and place your bids.  But that's not all, guests will enjoy an exciting Live Auction, Draws & Prizes, Live Entertainment and much more! This is an opportunity to serve your community and hungry customers all at the same time!  It's shaping up to be an evening full of great company, food, and festivities that will benefit our community with the money raised! Linda announced that the Toronto Club will be hosting an event on February 1 with Conrad Black. The topic of discussion will be “A President Like No Other”. Linda announced that the talk by Franco Scanga will need to be re-scheduled.

Linda announced that our meeting next week will have our Director’s provide their semi-annual report. We will be joined next week by the Rotary Club of Oshawa.

Ted announced that we are organizing another Kids’ against Hunger food packaging event on May 4th. We are looking to partner with the Oshawa Club and the Whitby-Sunrise Club. We will look to package 30 000 meals for the needy.

HAPPY TOONIES

Stanley is happy that he and his family travelled recently to Africa. He was glad to return to Canada.

Kim welcomed Colin as he is inducted into the Rotary Club.

Ted is happy to share a movie review about a recent movie which he saw. “The Upside” Ted noted that is well done and a feel good story.

Dan is happy to contribute for the Bingo loss.

Bob S. also welcomed Colin to the Club. He reminded Colin if he becomes Prime Minister of Canada he may need to seek a leave of absence from the Club. Bob also announced that his daughter had 4 breakaways at a recent hockey game and did not score on any one of them. And by the way the Bears lost in the dying seconds.

Sue is proud of her restraint at the desert table.

Kris welcomed Colin.

Eric G. is happy to hear about Dave Andrews’ successful surgery.

Linda is happy to welcome Colin to the Club. Linda is also happy to have been in Cottage Country showing a home (with very steep topography).

Bob K. is happy that Sonya is the Sergeant-at-Arms.
