GUEST SPEAKER :

Souma Sayah was introduced by Rotarian Robert Kipling.

Souma immigrated with her family to Canada in 2004. She became a Canadian Citizen on May 2, 2008. She is a Grade 12 student and will be attending York University this fall. Souma is a neighbour of Robert and Caroline. The Rotary Club of Oshawa Parkwood sponsored Souma to attend the Adventure in Citizenship in Ottawa.

Souma spoke enthusiastically about her recent experience in Ottawa which included a power point presentation. Two hundred students from across Canada met for the first time and over four action packed days became friends forever. Some of the many opportunities were attending Parliament and hearing the Speaker of the House, the War Museum and learning about the World Wars, our veterans and peace keeping efforts, a visit to the University of Ottawa, the First Nations Centre. All 200 participated in renewing the Oath of Citizenship which was special for Souma who was too young (at age 8yrs) to repeat the oath withher family in 2008.

Rotarian Kim Boatman thanked Souma indicating that our Club was pleased to support her and appreciated her enthusiastic presentation.
