Our fledgling Markham Unionville Rotary Club Choir is up, running and growing !

We started a few short weeks ago, and have really accomplished a great deal.

The Choir is full of heart. What I really like is every member's desire to do their very best and at the same time help the others. We are all encouraging of each other. It really creates a warm and safe environment for learning and allowing each member to make themselves vulnerable, which is what all musicians must do to create meaningful, soulful music.

The Choir is full of fun. There is much good humor as we spend time together. There was much excitement preparing for our Remembrance Day Service. The wonderful sounds and message we were able to create and share with the Club members, guests and Major Phillips was rewarding of our efforts, and spurs us on with enthusiasm to our next projects.

The Choir is inclusive. The ability to read music is not required. An operatic voice is not required. All we ask is commitment to attendance at most if not all practices, a non-competitive spirit, and the ability to carry a tune. We were happy to have Lara and Daniel Monzer join us for our "Thirty Second Fa-la-la". The smiles on their little faces as they sang this fun song with us was precious. As we progress, our hope is to learn songs from many different cultures and religions so that we can touch as many hearts as possible. The choir is now open to spouses of our members.

The Choir is growing. The Choir is good for membership. Once we have established a repertoire sufficient to perform for 30 - 45 minutes, we intend to sing where we can bring cheer and where needed, such as hospitals, nursing homes, hospices, charitable fund raisers and wherever in the community we can be of service. This provides exposure for the Club as well as community service.

Next gig: The Christmas Party. Vive le Rotary.
