Bailey's October Update
Hello!

Today is St. Martin’s Day. Soon my host father, Burkhard, and I will be going to the church in town to watch a special parade. There will also be a huge bonfire and free candy, so all-in-all a pretty good day!

I was asked from my last report if I knew my councilor, and I do. Her name is Martina, and she is an elementary school teacher. She picks me up for Rotary meetings sometimes, and has given me guided tours of my town twice already. She is a very sweet lady, and I feel very comfortable going to her if a problem arises.

At the start of October I went on a 2 week Deutschland tour with the other exchange students. I had a wonderful time! We visited Dresden, Berlin, Munchen and Hamburg, but also some smaller towns. I had a great time bonding with the other exchange students. My favourite city was Dresden because in the center of the city was this beautiful Catholic church. During World War 2, it was destroyed but the city rebuilt it based on the original design with original blocks. It was beautiful to go inside and see all the new work done.

The volleyball team I played for has decided to fold our team. I was the only one going to practices, so the coach said she would no longer coach for girls with no motivation. I am very upset that the team is no longer, however I am going to look into new options. Perhaps try a new sport or more language classes.

Last weekend I celebrated Halloween with the exchange students. 3 people had birthdays on Halloween, so we had a small party one town over for them. On the actual night of Halloween I went into Düsseldorf with some friends from my school.

Speaking of school, it is coming along good. I speak German with the people and my host family as much as I can. Of course it isn't perfect but at least I am trying. There is one other exchange student in my town, but she goes to another school, she is from Peru. I only really see her on Tuesdays at Rotary meetings, which are mandatory to go to.

Today is officially my 3rd month being in Germany. I really like it here, my host family is amazing. They always include me and try to make me feel like part of the family, which I do. Last weekend my host mom, sister and I went tree top trekking. It was allot of fun to zip line and climb trees. This Sunday my sister and I are going to see the new Hunger Games movie in theatres. I have not experienced homesickness yet so everything is definitely going great!

Tomorrow is my host clubs 10 year anniversary. I am going to the lunch-in as the district chair and mayor will be there. I am very excited to celebrate this anniversary with my host club.

Hope you are all doing well!
