The Eye2Eye International Film Festival brings together the best of international film to Northumberland County June 7 to 9, 2024, at Victoria Hall.
Film Access Northumberland (FAN) powers the Eye2Eye Film Festival. FAN strives to connect emerging film makers with financial rewards, access to professionals and mentors. They include educational events and workshops, and they want to expand the appreciation of the visual arts to schools and the broader community.
The three day event in June aims to bring industry professionals to Northumberland to build a platform for engagement, learning and connection.
Lesley Meyers is a dedicated industry professional with a passion for the entire lifecycle of film & television projects.
Lesley Meyers joins the 2024 Eye2Eye International Film Festival as its Co-Director bringing experience spanning three decades working in film & television production in Canada. Lesley has garnered a deep understanding of the nuances of film making and a keen eye for emerging talent. Her vast network and industry knowledge make her an ideal partner for our returning 2023 Festival Director, Sarah Cleveland. Together our Co-Directors will enrich the festival’s offerings and expand its reach to new audiences. Since moving to Northumberland County in 2016, Lesley has produced local children’s theatre productions andvolunteers with Film Access Northumberland, the parent organization of The Eye2Eye Festival.
Historically, most of the people involved were university students, so Emerging Filmmakers focuses on high school students.
Film making has been a renaissance of storytelling.
On the Sunday of the three-day festival, they have industry day. This is when the winners are announced. Last year, the second-place winner was self-taught, so this is not only for university students.
They seek people from the film industry to be mentors and presenters. Last year they had an insurance broker who specializes in film insurance. Sean Garrity is a specialist in unscripted acting, where the words are not stated, only that the objective is stated.
This year’s theme is Secrets in Film.
They are reaching out to local high schools with goal to support and mentor students. This year they have created a new category for high school students.
