  • R Chris gave brief summary of the No Frills raffle results. 979 tickets sold out of 1200 with net profit of $2,997.60. Winning ticket #9200 to Ms. Gisela Fedora. We received thank you from Ms. Fedora; "... I wanted to thank the Rotary Club again and tell everyone how much this meant to me as I am a struggling since my husband passed away a couple of years ago. This is a real blessing for me and I needed to express my profound thanks again. Sincerely, Gisela Fedora"
  • R Chris reminded that Diners and Duffers books available. Please sell as this is an excellent fund raiser for the club.
  • R Murray passed around sign up sheet for Fishing Derby. We are again splitting shifts with Knights of Columbus. This is May 4 to 6 weekend.
  • Brighton Rotary Golf Tournament at Barcovan June 18, 2018. R Victoria and R Chris met with Greg Thursday. We will limit teams to 18 only. Go out and get sponsors and teams for this important Club social and fundraiser.
  • R Mark and ADG Shirley were able to attend welcome at ENSS for the 15 girls from Tanzania visiting Canada. The girls and their teachers are being billeted in Cobourg. They have done some sight seeing and today going to Niagara Falls. R Mark reminded us that ENSS students have gone to Tanzania for several years supporting the girls school, this year some of the students came here.
  • Board meeting will be April 17 at R Dan's home.
  • Relay for Life - Luminary Ceremony at King Edward Community Centre - Thursday April 12th 5:30 to 7:30pm. Luminary Ceremony at Rotary Park at 7:30pm.
  • RLI at Centenial College Saturday April 14, all levels, club will pay costs.
  • Communicating with Ronneberger family through Maja concerning memorial for past R Al Ronneberger. Likely plaque on bench at Rotary Pergola.
  • R Ricardo advised the club that our inbound exchange student for next year will be a young lady from Argentina.
  • Spelling Bee to be at Brighton Public and Smithfield this year in May.
  • R Mark advised that there would be an announcement at Memorial Park this afternoon at 2pm. All Rotarians invited to attend.
  • District Assembly at BMO LI Saturday May 12 - all encouraged to attend, great learning opportunity.
  • Street Dance will be July 28th.
  • Interclub BBQ - August 20 at Proctor Park. Hope to have help from Campbellford with large trailer with tables and chairs.
  • Applefest Food Booth - September 29
  • R Victoria proposed Octoberfest Dance October 2.
  • Appears that with 57 students registered for Camp Enterprise, this event will go ahead. We need drivers May 3 and 5, sponsors at $300 each, and mentors.
  • Big Give June 2 - will be Bar B Q? Need volunteers.
  • District Conference next year to be held in Wellington October 27th. 'Rotary Reunion'. Easy to attend and minimal cost. Register in D7070 web site, also opportunity to host fellow Rotarian from away.

Happy Bucks:  to be here, for hockey playoffs starting even if Montreal didn't make it, minor hockey is over and soccer ongoing, Presidents presentation and initiative, bachelor for week, for good Easter, excellent talk last night by our own R Jeff W, always happy.
 
Rotary Minute: R Keith shared project in Australia of a water wheel chair that allows people who otherwise could not go into the water to do so. Very popular.
