This year’s Greenbuild Legacy Project is an outdoor garden Master Plan in San Diego, California! The Legacy Project will include the installation of a blueberry garden, community mural, and outdoor lounge.

Join other Rotarians who will come together to help Olivewood Gardens and San Diego Green Building Council make this project a reality. Visit the garden's website to learn more about this venue and the great work they provide to their community: https://www.olivewoodgardens.org

On October 3rd, volunteers will help dig trenches for the installation of irrigation lines and a cistern, give a hand to do some site cleanup, pull weeds, and do some planting. Kids are allowed under the supervision of adults. The work will take place in the morning to avoid the heat. Everyone will be required to wear masks and gloves and maintain social distance. All equipment from Olivewood is cleaned after volunteer use for safe handling.

This Legacy Project responds to the need for healthy food education, production, and accessibility. It also speaks to the social equity pillar of sustainability. Olivewood Garden and Learning Center’s historic 7.85-acre property in National City, California serves as an inclusive and interactive, indoor-outdoor classroom for San Diegans of South Bay. They are driven to build healthy families in their local environment. They do this through science-based nutrition education, hands-on gardening lessons, cooking classes, and leadership development programs for both the youth and adults.

The exact address will be available later.
