The Berkeley Heights Rotary Club and the Berkeley Heights YMCA are co-sponsoring a Summer Blood Drive.  The blood drive will take place on Tuesday, July 15 from 2pm – 7pm at the Berkeley Heights YMCA, 550 Springfield Avenue, Berkeley Heights.  Walk-ins are welcome but registration is encouraged by calling 908-522-2985.  It is suggested that donors eat and drink fluids prior to donating.   Donors should also bring a photo ID.  All donated blood will help the patients at Overlook Medical Center.

Why donate blood?  If not personally in need, at some point we will all know a friend, neighbor, family member, or co-worker who needs a blood transfusion. In fact, 1 out of 3 people will need blood in their lifetime. From natural disasters to unforeseen catastrophes, emergency hospital procedures to life-long battles with chronic diseases such as sickle cell, the demand for blood is constant. The supply is not. And since there is no substitute, only volunteer blood donors can roll up their sleeves and save lives.
