SKKC Weekly Meeting Voting on Bylaws

This vote is scheduled for February 2nd at our regular Wednesday membership meeting. Members must attend the meeting to vote, either by ZOOM, or in person. Approval requires a 2/3 vote of members present and voting. A copy of the revised bylaws, approved by the Board, is attached.
What has changed?
The number of pages may look intimidating, but not everything has changed.
- ARTICLES 1-10 are Kiwanis International “boilerplate” and cannot be changed.
- “MANDATORY CLUB POLICIES” have changed as follows Under “A.” Club Des and Fees, the "new member enrollment fee” has been dropped (we were not charging it anyway). Club dues for members remain at $150, however dues for new members may be prorated according to when during the Kiwanis year the person joins. Under “D.” Officers and Directors, the Vice-president’s position is recognized with a term of 1 year. Under “E.” Officers and Directors Election Process, “Special Elections” are recognized.
- “OPTIONAL CLUB POLICIES” now has significant content where before there was very little. Content in this section deals with the rules by which the Board of Directors operates and governs the Club. Read this section carefully; it is content rich.
Be aware that our Foundation has its own bylaws where you would find content related to grant giving and investment committees. Allen Levine has agreed to Chair the Foundation Bylaw Revision Committee.
The Board requests that Club members read the attached copy of Bylaws scheduled for the February 2nd vote. Members of the bylaw revision committee will be available at the January26th meeting to answer questions. Alternatively, members my send their questions at anytime before the February vote to the revision Chair – DougSRQ@gmail.com. Please title your email “Bylaw Question.”
