Past President of Salem Rotary & Past District Governor for District 7930

A Paul Harris Fellow, John Hall II has been a Salem Rotarian since 1998. He served as Club President from 2009-2010 and as the District Governor for our district (7930) from 2013-2014. Hunger has always been a major focus of his Rotary service, and key initiatives that began during his time as president include monthly meal service at Lifebridge and collecting coins to support the local food pantry, "Change for Change." He involved the Phoenix School EarlyAct Club in this effort, and the children still collect coins from Club members for service projects and community organizations in need today.

A career banker, John served as Senior Vice President & Division Manager of the $1.3 Billion Commercial Banking Division at Salem Five Bank. Prior to joining Salem Five, John had a 28-year career at Shawmut Bank, NA. He served as President and COO at Shawmut County Bank in Cambridge and then held several executive management positions in commercial banking, private banking and retail banking. He is a graduate of Norwich University, and he received his MBA at Babson College. He is also a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves.

John resides in Beverly with his wife, Nancy, and he has actively served many non-profit and charitable organizations in the region. He is a Past-Chairman of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce, Past-President of The Salem Partnership, and a Trustee of the Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation. In 2013, John was awarded the “Community Service Award” by the Salem Chamber of Commerce and in 2015 he received the “Banker & Tradesman” Community Bank Hero award. Prior to his retirement in 2017, The North Shore Chamber of Commerce recognized him with the "Distinguished Leader Award."
