"Strength is simply the ability to produce force against a resistance"

South Eastman Rotary had the unique opportunity to hear from Aaron Maier of Stone Brook Strength last month, on the importance of "AGING STRONG".

By age 40, adults who do not engage in regular strength training can lose up to ONE POUND of muscle per year. By age 80, untrained adults have lost up to 50% of their type two fibers.

Despite the Canadian Physical Activity Guidelines of at least 2.5 hours per week of moderate to vigorous intensity physical aerobic exercise, many Canadians do not have any guidance on how to go about getting the muscle and bone strength they need to prevent weakening of bones and loss of bone density.

Aaron offers a great place to start with Barbell Training! To help improve mobility and balance, strength and power, body composition, insulin resistance, sarcopenia and osteopenia, and combat weakness and frailty.
