Rotarian Anne Anderson, Literacy Committee chair, presents Shelayne Raymond with the 2026 Kenora Community Service Award, a $1000 scholarship for Seven Generations Education Institute students. Shelayne is in her first year of the two-year Social Service Worker diploma offered by SGEI in partnership with Canadore College.
Shelayne exemplifies 'Service above Self' in a variety of contexts. Her volunteer role for Kenora Pride includes supporting events, participating in meetings, sitting on committees and connecting with the community in a welcoming and inclusive way. Her instructors at Seven Generations describe her as engaged, friendly and approachable; someone who will always consider the perspectives of others and contributes to academic debates. She is a natural servant leader within Seven Generations and her community.
