Rotary Club of Brandon Sunset
Minutes
9/22/16

Present: Dayle, Lois, Whitney, Sheri, Shari,Dayle, Naseer, Meleisha, Kumaran, Walter, Kayvon, Gabi

Guests: Kiera Goring, Karleigh Paul, Kate Decter, 

  1. O Canada and Rotary Grace
  2. Discussion about World Polio Day
    1. The noon hour club asked us to do a proclamation with them.  After discussion we decided that costs could be better spent
  3. Motion Whitney/Kumaran Be it resolved that the Rotary Club of Brandon Sunset encourage a “Social Media Blitz” where for every picture/share from our page w/ #worldpolioday the club will donate $1 to Polio Plus, up to $220  Carried
    1. Mention that it would be a benefit to put a link to the Polio Plus Donation Page
  4. Sheri challenged the Rotaract Club to participate up to a dollar value they feel comfortable with
  5. Upcoming events
    1. October 20th – Chamber Business After 5 – 5-7 at Brandon Business Interiors
    2. Sept 29th - Aboriginal Chamber of Commerce Networking Mix & mingle
  6. Update on Meghan – she is unavailable to book speakers right now as she is swamped with her masters, if you would like to fill her shoes, please step up.  Shari did step up and will arrange for speakers.
  7. Auditorium dates to come at a later date
  8. Note – November 3rd regular meeting is cancelled; we have decided that all that can will attend Foundation Training at Lois & George's – 6:30-8:30
    1. Let Lois know if you will attend – 16 Willow place 
  9. Motion Dayle/Shari Be is resolved that the club award a $200 Bursary to a science fair Project at the Westman Science Fair that meets on of the 6 Rotary Avenues – Carried
  10. Sheri C. brought up Rotary Grace.  She is uncomfortable saying it.  It was decided that we will do the 4 Way Test at the beginning of meetings she runs and during her tenure as president
