This is the last newsletter of the Rotary year and I must again thank each of you for the commitment and attention that you pay to Polio. District Governors and their leadership teams are engaged in many many important goals and activities but you should be particularly proud that together we share a commitment to Polio...... a commitment on which you have delivered. Zone 24 will finish the year in the $2,000,000 range in combined personal, club and DDF giving. The Zone 24 West contribution of $1,236,000 has been stellar. You are on top. The highest achieving Zone in the world.
The Children Thank You! Rotary Thanks You!
As we wrap up the year I encourage you to remind those clubs that that have set a goal and made a commitment to Polio but have not yet made their contribution. There is a handful in most Districts. They can help us finish even stronger!
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon opened the convention saying "Today I want to speak to you about the invaluable partnership between Rotary International and the United Nations."
At the convention Dr Rebecca Martin of the Center of Disease Control and Prevention set out the Polio Plus challenges for the future - Resources, Motivation, Surveillance and Communication.
