Welcome to new member Emmanuel, and guests. Peter Kanygin from the CHIRP program at Brandon Correctional centre guest speaker.
CHIRP – program that lets the inmates read books to their children. Recorded on CD of parent inmate reading and CD and book given to children. CHIRP stands for children of inmates reading program. We are involved in this program by donating books. Any inmate with children can apply to be a part of this program. Readings take place every 6-8 weeks throughout the year. Average age of kids being read to are 5-10 years old. New program started for parent inmates with pre-teens so parent can read to them. 2 books are being purchased (1 for child 1 for parent to read), read and record a few chapters at a time to send to older child. Book stamping at Hortons(16 Willow place) this Wednesday at 630 pm if you can make it.
Memberships fees are due July 1st. Please let Whitney know if you are planning on not renewing your membership for 2018/2019.
Rib Fest : Blue moon water is willing to donate half of the ice and we pay for the other half. !st by Jeanne, 2nd by Dayle to have blue moon water supply the ice at half donated half paid for by the club. Carried.
CKLQ radio contract worked out and presented. Motion to accept contract as read at meeting 1st by Amy, 2nd by Whitney, carried.
Posters/vehicle decals/postcards/banner – need to be ordered asap. Cost for all advertising is $685 plus $80/hour for post card set up through Webber printing. 1st by Amy, 2nd by Whitney, Carried.
