Sunday, June 7th is three Sundays away and I am requesting that each Rotary Club provide me with an estimate of individuals attending the events as previously outlined at the International Peace Gardens.  At present we have the following confirmed to attend

In addition Bob Durston, ADD Rotary District 5550 will represent DG, Pat Chernesky,  Jim Ozbun, PDG & Current DG Rotary District 5580 are confirmed

Rotarians from the following Rotary Clubs are confirmed Brandon Sunset Rotary, Brandon Rotary, Minnedosa Rotary + International Exchange student Norway, Neepawa Rotary & International Exchange student Belgium, the Pas Rotary, Assiniboine Saskatchewan Rotary,  Regina Saskatchewan Downtown Rotary and possible representatives from Winnipeg Rotary Clubs

The plan is to meet at the 9/11 Rotary International Memorial @ 11:00 am at the International Peace Gardens where there will be a brief ceremony and the planting of three Buckeye Maples not to be confused with the Ohio buckeye which is also a tree and a football team.  The Buckeye Maple Leaves turn a brilliant red and the tree is very hardy to our North Dakota and Manitoba/Saskatchewan climate.  Following the tree planting which will include all present  there will be a lunch and social time in the nearby Interpretative Center which features one of the world’s largest and most complete cacti display.

Following the lunch and social the Peace gardens other features will be available for tours including the Memorial Chapel, Game Warden Museum, the Peace Gardens and many other features.

Rotarian Families, children and grandchildren are all welcome and encouraged to attend.

As Rick Felstead explained to the Rotary International Belgium student in Neepawa, the Peace Gardens is very unique as you can stand with one foot in Canada and one foot in the USA.

If you do not have a passport you are allowed back into your country of origin with driver’s license and birth certificate, International participants must have their passport.

Please advise to your anticipated Rotary participation by May 29th, Minot June 1st after your meeting will be fine, so arrangements with the Peace Gardens for food on Sunday, June 7th can be completed.

Thank you for your help and support
