This week the big shout out goes to Don Ferguson (he is the man who, in addition to his usual work, makes coffee and tea for everyone) at the project shed. Some of you may know Gaye Miles, who brings us a bunch of hot scones to the shed on Saturday morning?’ Well, she mentioned that her grandson Jamie, who suffers from autism, is struggling to ride his bicycle. Don went out and fitted trainer wheels and the immediate affect to Jamie was unbelievable. Well done Don! [It might sound corny but isn’t this exactly what Rotary is all about? Ed.]
We have been advised that the MOU (refer Vanuatu Government) for the hospital project building will be signed this Tuesday. We are currently still looking to get Rotary insurance for building, which has now reached lock upstage. Hopefully now, with the signed MOU, we will now meet with other joint Rotary clubs involved in the project to plan the way forward.
Preparation of wheelchairs at the project shed is going well with the next consignment of at least 100 wheelchairs going to South Africa.
As you know, the Italian Long Lunch had to be deferred. The new COVID rules should now enable us to run the event on its new date of 22nd October 2021.
Last Sunday saw our latest Bunnings sausage sizzle. Well done to all participating, especially Geoff Croad and Angus Miller for their help.

Regrettably, the presentation of the Lutzy Award, originally scheduled for 15th September, had to be postponed yet again. This time, COVID had nothing to do with it; it was simply that we were not aware that the recipient of the award had also been enrolled in the Kokoda Challenge..! ☺
A new date has been finalised: Wednesday, 27th October 2021 All current bookings will be retained, and the Trybooking site has reopened again. So, if you hadn't booked previously, you still can put your name(s) down to get a delicious breakfast for just $11.00: all menu options are listed on the Trybooking site.
