There have been an awful lot of newspaper column centimetres and electronic media about the Solomon Islands lately. OK, so this one mightn't make the major media, either here or over there.

But call it International Relations at the grassroots level: Our former member Col Laurenson is still very much involved in organising the shipment of humanitarian aid. The most recent one: he arranged for a massive, special electric wheelchair for handicapped people (see photo) to be shipped to Honiara. The local Rotary Club requested it, together with a patient hoist. Col, with the assistance of Surfers Sunrise, including Paul O'Neill and yours truly, arranged for it to be collected, then Col arranged shipment to Amberley Airbase, from where it was transported via the RAAF. Well done, all!
