This will serve as a "trial meeting" for a potential new venue. We'll meet at Freshwater Point Resort, Broadbeach. They'll put up a sumptuous buffet style breakfast - cost of $20.00 per person. Charles Thomasson will run a training style introduction to Social Media, in particular Instagram and Facebook, and how we can use this not just to communicate among each other, but also spread our message to potential members. |

Organized by the Rotary Club of Surfers Sunrise, this is a Multi-Club meeting with partners and friends it will be held at the Surfers Paradise RSL Club. So far, the Rotary Clubs of Burleigh Heads, Surfers Paradise, Nerang and Broadbeach as well as a number of individals have accepted our invitation to join. Also a wonderful opportunity to bring along a prospective member. All Rotary clubs are invited to join - the venue can cater for as many as 200 people. This coming Wednesday we'll meet again at the Surfers Paradise Surf Club on the Esplanade, Surfers Paradise, where we recently had the Lutzy Award presentation. Meeting assembly at 07:00 am for 07:15 start. Again a special occasion: our newly baked District Governor Terry Brown and his partner Carol will visit, to outline to us their vision for the coming 12 months. Please join us to give them a hearty Surfers Sunrise welcome!
Parking: regrettably, the free parking has not come through (yet), so street parking or Early Bird at the Paradise Centre, off Hanlan Street.
Regarding the meal: we have noted your comments in relation to the food from a couple of weeks ago. So, this time we'll have an 'All you can eat' buffet breakfast, much more sumptuous too: eggs poached, eggs scrambled, baked beans, bacon, potato gems, sausages, pancakes, toasts, cereals, fresh fruit and house made yoghurt.

Gold Coast Coordinator Senior Sergeant Tony Unicomb and Youth Support Officer Sam Collins from the Qld Police Service will speak about their Boonah Project they run in conjunction with the PCYC - helping "young people at risk" to holistically address disengagement from family and community and to ultimately prevent their anti-social behaviour, substance abuse etc. |

Regrettably, Liam Smith, our RYTS awardee, is unable to attend due to a University commitment. At short notice, Julius Czerny (see Bulletin of 22/08/18), that very entertaining speaker we had a few weeks back presenting about his near death experience which led him to develop the Super Lifesaver board game, agreed to jump in and entertain us again (on a different subject though - you'll just have to wait until the day! ☺) |

Yes, it's short notice, but this came in as a special treat: President Jo (and Tony) have organized an exclusive 'behind the scenes' tour to the famous Dracula's Cabaret Restaurant - next Wednesday 24th October, starting at 3:00 pm. Meeting in the Dracula Car Park (opposite Pacific Fair, entry before the road into Jupiters) at 2:55 pm. Note, this is NOT the show, this will give you insight into how all those effects are performed! Great experience, not to be missed. Partners, friends, visitors all welcome! Please advise President Jo how many are coming with you!
Note: this will be in lieu of our usual social breakfast.

'Onion King' Angus Miller has the bar-be-que ready to feed the hungry - free sausage sizzle, coffee and tea! If you also like to have eggs, bacon or whatever, simply bring it along. For those of you who can spare the time, the meeting will be followed by a working bee, specifically aiming to tidy up the Project Shed and its surroundings, in preparation for the Big Bike Sale on 8th December. Please dress appropriately, including covered shoes. No thongs or sandals please. |

In view of recent new directorship appointments to our Wheelchairs Trust (President Jo will announce soon), the decision was made to change the speaker at our upcoming meeting. Warren Humphries OAM, a former member of our club, has had decades of involvement with the Men's Shed organization. He'll join us to outline his experiences and outline major points to ensure maximum success of this most important project of ours. We have dozens of perfectly well working bicycles, including some very expensive racing bikes for sale. They have been lovingly restored by our volunteers at the Project Shed. Most of them will go for a fraction of what they're worth. For example, we have a Cervélo Racing Bike which, new, sells for over $8,000! See location map to find it. |

In memory of our recently departed Bob Harrison, Bob's wife Gloria, as well as Bob's sons John and Andy will come in with a lot of food and we'll have a memorial Morning Tea for Bob. All members and volunteers and their families are welcome. (Note: the traditional Christmas Party at the Project Shed will be held the following Saturday 22nd December, as originally planned). |
