Congratulations to our $50K Raffle Winner CONGRATULATIONS!!! Our $50K Raffle was drawn at the Nerang RSL on Wednesday 14th February 2024. Our winner Rona was delighted to take our call and said she has never won anything...not even an argument. Rona purchased her winning ticket at Bunnings Nerang. Rona wasn't available to collect the big cheque from President Michelle (pictured) but was certainly excited to talk to Michelle on the phone. A huge thank you to all those from our community who supported the raffle. We'd be delighted if you lent your support to our next raffle - luck might be with you! Nerang Celebrates Sausage Sizzle Over 100kgs of sausages at Nerang Celebrates! Rotarians cooked and served sausages at the 2022 Nerang Celebrates Christmas event. Rotary supports the volunteer committee who plans and runs the event with all profits from the Rotary sausage sizzle and soft drink sales at the event being donated back to Nerang Celebrates to support the event. Get Your Head Right Supporting Farmers ”Get Your Head Right!” You are invited to be part of the Rotary Club of Nerang presenting: Guest Speaker - Angry Anderson Do you care about our farmers? We are in a midst of a national suicide crisis, especially in the drought affected regions of Australia. All they want for Christmas is their Dad! You can make a difference by attending this “one off” urgent fundraiser on outback rural men’s suicide prevention, brought to you by Nerang Rotary. Sponsors Nerang Rotary and Newhaven Funerals are supporting a new local business Gold Coast rural pilot program, “Get Your Head Right”, men’s outback musters, that is offering hope! FARM AID $15 000 is headed west to support farming communities in western Queensland. Nerang Rotarians Geoff and Michael met up with Rotarian Phillip Charles, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Toowoomba East, a Past District Governor of Region 9630 and the current Chairperson of the Rotary Committee charged with the disbursement of all drought aid funds raised and ensuring they go to those who really need it. Nerang Celebrates Rotarians, their partners and children are again preparing to sizzle sausages at Nerang Celebrates, a commitment the Rotary Club of Nerang is proud to have made to the event since the very first Nerang Celebrates Christmas held in 2007. During the evening we expect to serve up over 120 kgs of suasages and loads of soft drinks. It is truly a team effort and one thousands of Nerang residents can be thankful for as it contributes significantly to an outstanding community event, money raised goes directly back into the events budget. Painting Pinkies Purple for End Polio Awareness Nerang State High School Interact Club invited students across the school to paint their pinkies purple to share Rotary's End Polio Now message. The members of the Club talked to the school community about the outstanding success of the End Polio initiative as just three countries remain Polio hot spots, and even in these countries the incidence of Polio have been dramatically reduced. In 2017 just seven cases of Polio have been reported. Funds raised will be donated to the Rotary Foundation's End Polio Now campaign. Nerang Community Gardens Rotary Sponsoring a garden at the Nerang Community Gardens The Rotary Club of Nerang maintains sponsorship of one of the community garden beds at the Nerang Community Gardens located at the Country Paradise Parklands. Keen garden volunteers plant, maintain and harvest vegetables that are supplied to organizations who support needy Nerang residents with fresh produce. Supporting Country Paradise Parklands Nerang Rotary Supports Nerang Country Paradise Parklands Rotarians attended early public interest meetings held to explore the concept of creating the Nerang Country Paradise Association. Rotarian Terry Moore expressed an interest in helping to guide the new association and was elected to the first Country Paradise Association Committee. Terry continues his involvement and provides the Club with regular updates on the developments at Country Paradise Parklands. In 2014-15 the Club is exploring opportunities to develop a barbecue and picnic area at Country Paradise Parklands in partnership with the CP Association.
