Where does the money raised go to?
Proceeds from the duck race will be donated the schools' nominated charities and projects and Burleigh Heads Rotary local youth initiatives.
How does it work?
The Rotary Club of Burleigh Heads owns 3,000 rubber ducks, all with unique numbers (1-3000). By sponsoring a duck, you receive a ticket. Your ticket # and contact info will be entered into our master database and then using a randomization program, every ticket will be assigned a duck number.
On the day of the duck race, the ducks are all released into the river at once (during peak tidal flow times). Photographers/drone will record the winners as they cross the line. Water safety marshals will collect the ducks at the finish line, the winners are determined by matching the winning duck numbers back to the ticket purchaser.
The adjudicator of the race is the club president, and the decision on the winners is final.
