This week, we enjoyed an engaging Member Behind the Badge presentation from Jun Huo, who shared an insightful and personal look at his life in China before moving to Australia.
We were also delighted to welcome two new members into our Rotary family — Rita Fellows and Yvette Morgan. We look forward to seeing them get involved and bringing their skills and enthusiasm to our projects.
Michael Cooper delivered a heartfelt speech reflecting on receiving his Paul Harris Fellow recognition last week, expressing his gratitude to the club and to those who have supported his Rotary journey. Congratulations again, Michael.

Thomas Young is a key figure in disaster relief efforts on the Gold Coast, Queensland. As the coordinator of GC Faith Disaster Response, he leads initiatives to support communities affected by severe weather events. His work includes organizing volunteer teams, collaborating with local organizations, and providing practical assistance to residents facing challenges such as property damage and insurance claims. Through his leadership, GC Faith Disaster Response has become a vital resource for those in need, exemplifying a commitment to community resilience and recovery.
If you do not have your Club Runner login information, you can go to the Club Runner website, scroll down a little and click on “Send me a Magic Link”. Enter the email address you gave to the club, and you will receive an email. Click on the login button and then select the club website. Go to ‘My Clubrunner’ and then ‘My Profile’. The ‘Edit’ button is at the top right and you can add/change any information on your profile. Click ‘Save’ and you’re done!

The much-loved Rotary Duck Race is back this November, and we’re gearing up for a quacking good time! Thousands of bright yellow ducks will take to the water in a fun-filled race to raise much-needed funds for our community projects.
But we can’t do it without your help! We’re need sponsors to support the event and donations of prizes for our lucky winners. We also need contacts at community and sporting clubs you, or family members, might be involved with. If you know anyone who would like to help, or raise funds for their club, put them in touch with Michael Cooper or Graham Jones.
We’re also on the lookout for volunteers to help on race day – from setting up and selling goods to keeping the ducks in line. Let us know if you can help. A signup will be put on Club Runner soon.
We have had a request to provide a prize for the Ingleside State School's Vintage Fair in September. We want to provide a basket full of goodies for them to raffle or auction. If you have anything you'd like to donate, please bring it in on Thursday. Think pampering and luxury. Or, if you have other items, bring them in and we might be able to provide more than one basket. Clubs and districts offer scholarships for secondary, undergraduate, or graduate study. These scholarships can be supported with funds raised locally or with Rotary Foundation district or global grants.
The Rotary Foundation offers scholarships for college graduates and professionals to study peace and conflict resolution. Rotary Peace Fellowships are available to candidates who want to participate in a master’s degree or professional development certificate program at one of our partner universities. In the hours before sunrise on 4 July, more than 10 inches of rain fell on Kerr County, Texas, USA. By some estimates, it added up to 100 billion gallons of water, more than the daily flow of water over Niagara Falls. The torrential downpour caused the Guadalupe River to rise 36 feet, killing more than 130 people and damaging thousands of properties.
In the days that followed, as he stepped in to lend a hand in the recovery, Larry Agee met a survivor who was distraught and still in shock. “He’d lost everything,” Agee said. The man was fixated on one loss in particular: The tall flagpole in front of his home had been swept away and he desperately wanted it back. Read the whole article here.
