Meeting Information

Changeover Dinner

Our changeover dinner is really coming together, with 51 people booked in to attend. We’re delighted that Deb Frugtniet, our District Governor Elect, will be joining us, and Lauren Bunney – the talented local artist many of you heard at the Pride of Work Awards – will be entertaining guests on arrival and during dinner.

The District Changeover is also coming up on Sunday, and there are still tickets available if you’d like to be part of the celebration.

Annual Report

The annual report is being pulled together, and the service report is particularly impressive. It really shows how active we’ve been this year and how many different parts of the community we’ve supported.

Service Projects & Wheelchair Delivery

Our hands-on service continues, with members heading up to RARE to deliver 10–12 bush wheelchairs for loading into a container. These will soon be on their way to people who really need them.

Youth & Interact Achievements

The Miami High Interact Club continues to impress. Their trivia night on the 5th of June raised a net profit of $3,624, and they’ve chosen to donate $3,500 to I Africa. It’s a fantastic result and a great example of young people leading meaningful service projects.

Fundraising & Event Rosters

We’re now turning our attention to the July 4th Whale Festival BBQ. This event is held just outside the club on the foreshore, from about 7:00 am to 2:00 pm, with the main rush from 9:00 am onwards. See Richard Diaz if you would like to help out.

On Friday 3 July, the Palm Beach Neighbourhood Centre has asked for help with moving some items. We’ll need three or four volunteers, and more details will be shared at the next meeting.

Club Relationships & Acknowledgements

Nick Owens, the long-serving General Manager of the venue, will be retiring at the end of the month. Nick has been very supportive of our club during his time as manager and we thank him for that.

Storage & Logistics Challenges

The surf club is no longer able to store our Rotary gear for meetings, so we are looking for other options. For the time being, equipment will need to be brought in each week.

Sunshine Rally promotes inclusion in Kenya

By Saum Siraj, Rotary Club of Hurlingham, Nairobi, and District 9212 Sunshine Rally Advocacy chair

Whenever I attend District 9212’s Sunshine Rally, I am always reminded of one simple truth: inclusion is not a policy — it is a human moment.

I have witnessed the rally over the last 14 years throughout my journey as a Rotarian, and every time I volunteer in the planning committee and attend the event, I leave changed, inspired, challenged, and encouraged that indeed together we can unite and do good.

Rotary clubs changing lives with Interplast

Rotary clubs across Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific are transforming lives through their enduring partnership with Interplast, funding surgeries and training that restore health, dignity and opportunity for thousands in developing nations.

During 2025 and 2026, dozens of clubs across the whole of Rotary South Pacific enabled the provision of life-changing treatment in developing nations, continuing the proud tradition of Rotary support for Interplast, which began when Interplast was co-founded by Rotary in 1983.

At the Rotary International Convention, polio experts report on eradication effort

Current leaders of the four-decade campaign to eradicate polio expressed confidence in the effort at the Rotary International Convention in Taipei, Taiwan, saying on 15 June that the promise of a polio-free world can be achieved.

“I think we could even see the last case of wild poliovirus in Pakistan this year,” Michael K. McGovern, chair of the International PolioPlus Committee, said after the session. Read more here.
