Please check the roster for the next few weeks and advise John Campbell and David Ungar if you will be away that week. Absence forms will be at the attendance desk.
Gavin Watts, Founder of Team Naked Gavin Watts shared a powerful message about emotional courage and authenticity. Using The Emperor’s New Clothes as a metaphor, he contrasted how adults learn to pretend they are “fine” while carrying hidden struggles. He described his own journey: surviving a devastating fall, years of rehab, and a long career as a paramedic and surf lifesaver, all while wearing “emotional armour.”
Gavin spoke movingly about telling his father “I love you” and the heartbreaking loss of his 17-year-old daughter, Taylor. These experiences taught him that people connect more with truth than perfection. Through Team Naked, he encourages people to gently remove their emotional armour, set healthy boundaries (not walls), admit mistakes, ask for help, and let those they love truly see them. https://teamnaked.com.au/
From the back of the room, a lot of head-nodding was observed, suggesting that his presentation resonated with many of those in attendance.

Meeting Information
International Toast Proposal
Members discussed introducing an international toast at weekly meetings, recognising a Rotary club somewhere in the world and following up with an email to build goodwill and international connections. This would rotate among members and is intended as an easy, engaging way to be more involved.
Kokoda Parking Fundraiser & Service Projects
Mike reported on the Kokoda parking fundraiser, thanking everyone (including non-member helpers) for their efforts. The event raised $3,770.16, and feedback is being gathered via a survey to improve future events.
Membership & Youth
Membership Chair Jo was absent, but it was noted that her mother Gae will be inducted next week and members are encouraged to attend. Hannah shared details about the RYLA leadership camp in January, with the club usually sponsoring one participant and applications now open.
Homeless Outreach
Another meeting with the homeless is scheduled for next week, and volunteers were sourced from the meeting. Members will meet men with lived experience of homelessness, sharing conversation and support over coffee, reinforcing that many are decent people who’ve had misfortune.
Public Image & Social Media
Krystal reminded members to follow and engage with the club’s Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn accounts. Liking, sharing, and commenting helps broaden the club’s reach and attract potential members. She also re-circulated a leadership survey to shape an upcoming leadership workshop.
Club Runner Details
Members were reminded that some Club Runner profiles are incomplete or incorrect. Everyone is asked to log in and check their details, especially phone numbers and email addresses, so they can be contacted easily for rosters and events.
