Dr. Melinda Mills, daughter of Bob Mills, was welcomed to the meeting and shared her  observations as a demographer.  She discussed the implications of lower birth rates and an aging population in many countries.  These affect pension, health care, numbers of available workers and changes in market needs (eg aging population requires a shift from high production of diapers to production of incontinence products)  She shared information about the possible uses of AI that would result in the need for many workers to learn new skills for new occupations.  Members were enthralled with the information provided as it gave them much to think about.

Membership News

Leann recently shared an email entitled "Design Your Rotary Experience".  Great ideas on how to get the most from Rotary.
Invited all to join for a Fireside Event at the Pidherney Centre, date TBA.

We also welcomed our newest member, John Bender.

Rotarian of the Month

We celebrate Annette Eby during the month of July.  Annette was instrumental in the success of the recent Community BBQ held after the parade. She is member of the Fellowship committee and greets all as part of the Square group.  Annette plays a key role on the Black Tie Bingo committee and is also part of the  Wetlands committee.  We are very fortunate to have had Annette join Rotary as she is truly an example how to use your gifts and talents to serve others.

August's honoree is Corinna Bruin-Tewson.  Corinna demonstrates her commitment to the 4 Way Test in all that she does.  She is a key member of the Youth Exchange team and has recently volunteered to serve on a committee that is updating Club Runner.  We thank Corinna for her spirit of volunteerism and willing to help out where needed.  Thank you Corinna for all that you do for Rotary.
