Weekly Meeting Update

Phil H welcomed all to the Christmas meeting.  Doug was Sarge and fined all who were not yet done their Christmas shopping. (It was surprising that so few had to be fined- perhaps Santa has been very efficient this year?)

Over 75 were in attendance for the Christmas feast.  It was a wonderful opportunity for members to bring family and friends to share in the celebrations.

Guests included:

Donna Durham and Penny LeBretton- Red Deer Christmas Bureau

Ian Wheeliker  Central Alberta Outreach

Danica Hoffart: Central Alberta Women's Emergency Shelter

Red Deer Food Bank

Elder Lynn Jonnason- Safe Harbor

Major Kent Hepditch- Salvation Army

Grace Jeanveau Red Deer RCMP City Victim Services

NEWSFLASH!!

Bob Mills reports that another layer of bureaucratic tape has been surmounted.  The sign marking the Slack Slough Wetlands Project is one step closer.  The concrete for the supports is being poured and will need 28 days to cure before attaching the sign to mark our Centennial Project!! It is anticipated that there will be a "soft opening" early in the year and then a more "formal opening" in the spring.  This is an exciting milestone and is the culmination of dedicated work by the committee working with the County of Red Deer and other agencies.  Over 300 acres of nature preserve will be forever preserved for all to enjoy!
