Happy/Sad and other Fun Things
Gloria: Congratulations on winning the 2023 Destination Garden Centre of the Year Award from the Canadian Garden Council at the International Garden Tourism Conference held recently in Victoria. Gloria enjoyed the networking possibilities and opportunities. All are welcome to attend the Parkland Garden Centre Open House on Nov 8 from 5-7 p.m.
Leigh: Kudos to those who have been working hard to ensure that the Black Tie Bingo will be a success!
Jerry: Loved the CFR and will miss the social opportunities. Saddened and angered as Alberta European Motorworks was broken into again and suffered losses.
Ian W: Inviting all to "Songs of Remembrance" at the new Willowdale Church at Sunnybrook Museum on Sunday, Nov 12 at 2 p.m. Enjoy the music!
Patricia: Attended her first CFR event and was not a fan!
Aliesha: Thanks to Leann for ensuring that her first CFR experience was great! Leann is a great mentor for social events!
Dick M: Offered thanks to family members who served in wars. He is very thankful that his generation is the first to have not been called to serve by their country.
Sheryl K: Echoed Leigh's appreciation for those who have worked on Black Tie Bingo. There were many new members to the club who became committee members!
Diane M: Loved the trio who attended today. Diane is very proud to be a Rotarian and a Canadian.
Oleh Z: Overjoyed to no longer be the absentee husband of Daria! He has now moved to Red Deer and is looking forward to no more commutes to see his wife. We welcome Oleh to Red Deer and note that he has already begun volunteering here as he worked CFR shifts.
Craig: Shared stories of his father who served in WW1 at Vimy Ridge and Passchendaele. He also encouraged all to visit the War Museum at Parkland Mall.
Gerry W: Gave thanks for the Canadians who liberated and provided support to Europeans during WW2
Bill H: Recounted story of his father who served in the Air Corp as a glider pilot. The sacrifices that were made were many for those serving and those that they left behind at home.
Karen G: Described the impact that Rotary had on her life after receiving the opportunity to attend a Rotary sponsored music camp as a burgeoning high school trumpet player in Saskatoon. She continued to "pay it forward" through service opportunities at home and across the country.
