A moment of silence was observed to mark the recent passing of Jack Donald.  Jack was our longest serving Rotarian, being part of our club for over 48 years.  He will be missed.  Our condolences to his family and friends. Services will be held in April to commemorate his life of service.

Jan C: Excited about the return of Romance and Roses, a Fashion and Bridal show being held on Sunday April 21 at the Red Deer Resort and Casino

Donna P: Encouraging all to attend the gala showing of A Color Purple on Feb 1 at the Galaxy Theatre.  This is in support of the Afro Carribean club efforts to provide for recent arrivals and retraining.

Rob S: Celebrating the success of the recent Grand Slam of Curling event that was held last week. 

Gloria B: Celebrating the soft opening of the Wetland s project next week.  There will be a more formal event in the spring.

All are encouraged to watch  the Lindsay Thurber High School production of The Little Mermaid on Feb 1-3.  Gloria's granddaughter will be performing.

Darcy:  Attended 2 Rotary meetings in Lahaina in Maui.  He was amazed at the positive attitudes and uplifting feeling of comraderie the clubs exhibited as they work to support the rebuilding of their community.  They have added a 5th test to each meetiing- to have fun.  Perhaps this is something we should not forget to have each day and with each other?

Laura Snape: Was reminded of the importance of living our lives with a continunlng sense of wonder as did her 103 year old grandmother who recently passed away.

Leann: Encouraging those who are looking for a travel idea to consult Elevation Travel in Innisfail.  Her sister is organizing a trip in February 2025 to Cambodia, Vietnam..

A thank you was received from the Salvation Army for the recent support of their Kettle Campaign.  

 

Ron Moisey was the worthy recipient of this award. He demonstrates service before self in all that he does and has served the club in many capacities over the years. Ron became a member of the club in 1999 and was sponsored by Ray McBeth.  He has served in leadership roles in organizing the Black Tie Bingo and Rebels 50/50 work schedule.  He stepped in when there was a need for a Treasurer and has worked hard to ensure that the club financial situation is well taken care of. He is diligent and is very attentive to detail.  Ron also plays an active role in many local committees.  Ron reflected that his was fortunate to work for ATCO, a company that encouraged its employees to become involved in the community .  This has has allowed him to be able to devote time to service for others. Thank you Ron for all that you do for the club and the community. 

 

Gina Belich thanked club members who are joining the Steering Committee.  She also shared info regarding 2 clients who are seeking placements.  Noah has a  his level 1Earlly Learning Certificate and is looking for a placement working with students age 2-5. Leon has worked as a customer service rep for 5 years and is looking for a position after his previous placement closed.  Please contact Gina for more information.

It's not too late to get your tickets for this event on Sunday, January 28 from 4-7 p.m.  We gather at the Eastview Community Hall, 120 Ellenwood Drive to determine who makes the best chili!  Tickets are $25 dollars and e transfers can be sent to social@rotaryclubofreddeer.ca.
