Brenda Kolasa: Encouraging all to attend the Legacy Dinner to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Rotary Club of Red Deer East to be held Nov. 26. Tickets available until Nov 15.
Victor M: Shared how 80 years he was born in a bomb shelter in Holland. His father was a member of the Resistance in Holland.
Patricia: Change of name of the Sexual Assault Centre to ????. The new name >>>>>
Adele: Shared the story of her uncle Giovanni who rode on a motorcycle and delivered messages. Happy to report that the UCP conference was a success.
Gloria: Shared poster of upcoming Christmas Market Days at Parkland Garden Centre. (insert poster). Remarked on how recent events such as Black Tie Bingo and Remembrance Day bring back memories of Don ODell to many. Gave Kudos to the Black Tie Bingo team for their work.
Dick M: Reminded us to also consider the sacrifices that are made by those who are left behind due to conflict and their families. He shared the story of his parents being separated for the first 5 years of their marriage.
Gerry W: Gave thanks to those who liberated Holland. He also shared that his father was a POW in Germany.
Robert L: Back early from trip to US because of border difficulties. He was glad to have been able to do his long anticipated Grand Canyon hike. Robert was recently awarded an honorary life time membership in the Historical Society of Alberta. Congratulations!
Jim M: Noted that the Flash incorrectly recorded the motion re club support of Darcy M nomination for District Governor. Jim F made the motion and Jim M seconded it. (editor note: there are too many Jim's sometimes to keep them straight! Apologies to all. Happy to see that someone read the Flash and picked up on the error.)
Phil H: His father was a glider test pilot and suffered long lasting effects from his missions.
Diane M: Her father was on patrol on the west coast, crashed, and was rescued in the Atlantic clinging to a wing.
Debbie V: Was at the first Black Tie Bingo and remarked how it is still a great event. Kudos to Darcy as MC.
