Club Leadership Update (Darcy M)
The Club Succession Committee presented the outcomes of their work over the past five months. Sincere thanks to Jim M, Dick M, Merv T, Dean W, Shelley R, and Darcy M for their dedication, ideas, and recommendations aimed at strengthening leadership within the club. Their message emphasizes the importance of collaboration, encapsulated in the principle that “many hands make light work,” highlighting that everyone has a role to play in fostering leadership in our organization.
While the committee indicated that they are going to start reaching out to Members to discuss their club engagement, it is important for all members to know “you don’t have to wait to be asked – put up you hand, declare your interest, and look for opportunities to engage.” 80% of success is SHOWING UP!
The Club has approved the Motion outlined at the end of the enclosed slide deck. Additionally, the Committee encourages each member to allocate 22 minutes in their schedule to watch the recording of the Zone 28 - Membership Meet Up (November 2024), which focuses on building an Irresistible Rotary Club. Several key themes from this session may offer valuable insights for reflection as we continue to develop the Rotary Club of Red Deer.
Jack P reminded all that the deadline to register before the price increase of $100 US is December 15. Accommodation is booking quickly in the hotels but arrangements are being made for accommodation at Mount Royal University and the University of Calgary residences for members of Districts 5360 and 5370.
Aliesha shared information about the Host Hospitality Night that the 3 local Rotary clubs will be hosting on Monday, June 23 at Camp Hector. It will be a great evening where Rotarians can experience western hospitality. As a club we are able to have 16 hosts at the evening. If you are interested in being a host, please contact Aliesha (email: social@rotaryclubofreddeer.ca) for further information as soon as possible.

Wasn't That a Party!
A gathering was held at Parkland Garden Centre on Dec 2. Thanks to Gloria and the staff at Parkland Garden Centre for ensuring that the location was perfect! It was definitely a Christmas party! Jim Slipp and his crew ensured that we did not go thirsty. Dave and his staff from Murphs provided us with lovely hot snacks to enjoy. Morgan McKee provided us with musical selections and was joined by Robert M and Sheryl K who led us in song. They were joined by enthusiastic Rotarians in the songs of the season. The Pidherney Centre lent us chairs so we could exchange stories with each other in comfort. Thanks to Aliesha and her social committee for providing a great evening for all.
