Eagle Builders is a family owned Canadian manufacturing and construction company that specializes in the design, engineering, fabrication, and construction of precast concrete structures. Craig shared the story of the company and the growth that it has made over the years to respond to industry needs and challenges. He also talked about the importance of establishing a working environment that is built on mutual trust and high expectations from all involved. The importance of community was evident in the stories shared about the ways in which Eagle Builders is involved in the local community. He reminded all of the importance of doing what we can do to make the lives of others better and serving others.
Many members participated in a tour of the facilities and marveled at the technology and structures that are produced.

We went on a Field Trip! The meeting was held at Eagle Builders which is located west of Blackfalds. All enjoyed the luncheon and the opportunity to explore.

Dagmar: Thankful that family was safely evacuated from the fires around Drayton Valley and their sawmill and business were spared. Happy to be a port in the storm for them.
Rob Stryker: reported that there were 486 in attendance at the event. Thank you to all the volunteers that helped out in so many ways. Sheryl K: loved the event and shared that the highlight of the evening was sitting with Mayor Ken Johnston and Rex Murphy celebrating past Rotarians.
Phil: Bragging bucks as his grandson has been named Valedictorian at LTHS.
100 Anniversary Party - A Smash Hit!
Over 450 Rotarians and guests attended the gala at the Parkland Pavilion celebrating 100 Years of Rotary in Red Deer. Attendees enjoyed time to visit, share stories and visit the Hall of Service Above Self before gathering for a delicious catered meal.
The evening opened with the Red Deer Royals leading all in O'Canada. Don O'Dell welcomed everyone to the event to celebrate Rotary, past, present, and future. Club President Darcy M provided encouraging words and then Rotarian Mayor Ken Johnston welcomed all and proclaimed May "Rotary Month". Greetings were brought from Kurt Kowalchuk, incoming District Governor.
The Rotary Club of today only exists as it does because of the work of those who came before us. The story of 40 Rotarians were celebrated with posters outlining their tremendous contributions to the club and the community. It was humbling to read the mark they left on the community through their lives of service. The contributions of 5 Rotarians were highlighted as they illustrated the impact that Rotary has had on the community over the years. Gloria Beck shared the story of Ken Ing. Jim Quinn was honored by Gail Surkan. The influence of Ray Dunham was told by Dan Murdock. Jack Donald told of the influence of Mel Hough. Jim McPherson spoke about Alfio Truant.
Don O introduced the guest speaker, Rex Murphy. Rex commended Rotary on the celebration of 100 years of demonstrating common kindness to others in tune with serving others. The themes of his speech included Rotary being a hallmark in representing the values of mutual respect, harmony and enjoying the pleasure of others. Rex shared many stories illustrating the ways in which kindness is shown to others without worrying about politics, economic status, or government policies. Rex concluded with reminding all of the importance of serving others and working together.
