Harvey shared the New Generations report. Our club is able to sponsor 2 students for these events and has applied for grants. See Harvey for details if you know of someone who would be interested. Upcoming events include

Rotary Youth Leadership Award. RYLA (ages 115-17) on May 9-12

Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment. RYPEN (ages 13-17) May 3-6

Rotary Alberta Youth Entrepreneurship Camp RAYEC .Aug 11-17

New Generations Service Exchange (Ages 16-30. Post Secondary and young professionals)

Other opportunities include: Adventure in Citizenship, Adventures in Tourism, and an Adventure in Career and Financial Wellness Camp. Harvey has further information.

We are excited to have Charlotte as our outbound student. She will be heading to Germany as part of a long term Rotary Youth Exchange. Darcy M is the outbound counsellor. Corinna B is the inbound counsellor. Robert M is the Vulnerable Youth Exchange officer. All those involved will be provided with extensive training to help support them in their roles. Darcy and Harvey shared information regarding the criteria to be a host family, guidelines to ensure the exchange is successful, etc.

Please contact Harvey if you are interested in hosting our yet to be names inbound students. 3-4 placements will be required. Students arrive in August and return home in July.

Johannes Hess, current Rotary Exchange Student from Stettler shared his experiences of being part of the Stettler community and impressions of Canada.

Weekly Meeting Update

President Phil H welcomed all to the meeting. Judith was Sarge and dispelled myths about St. Patrick, much to the chagrin of some members. We learned that St. Patrick did not drive out any snakes (too cold in Ireland for snakes), did not wear green (seems to have preferred blue), was

not born in Ireland, and was not canonized as a saint. These facts did not prevent members from consuming the leprechaun gold coins on the tables!

Gerry W had the potential to win the 50/50 pot was unsuccessful.

Happy/Sad and other Fun Things

Leanne: Grateful to Bob M who allowed her to rent a place in Maui for a week. Embarrassed to have missed 2 of her Rebels 50/50 shifts while away but grateful to those who were able to go in her place.

Dick M: Loved the production put on by Cornerstone Youth Theatre and encourages all to attend. Commendation to the fire department and ambulance who came quickly the aid of their 90 year old neighbor who was concerned about a possible gas leak.

Darcy: This week's ski update is that Nate is continuing to consider another year of ski racing after a successful last race of the year. Sam is moving onto regional finals next week.

Ross F: Proud of his son who has gone to Norway as a support skier. Ross also reports that he has survived a week with his teenage granddaughters.

Community & Project Updates

Phil introduced Graham Ingham, CEO of Red Deer Regional Airport. Graham provided a quick update regarding the future of the airport as he will be relocating shortly. The airport is in the midst of 80 million dollar upgrades and continues to work with all partners in a spirit of collaboration. He thanks Rotary for the support over the years. Graham introduced Nancy Paish who has been named the interim CEO.

Blood Donor Evening

Get $10 off your meal at Cilantro and Chive when you show your Giver Sticker from Canadian Blood Services clinic. You need to donate between March 6 and April 3. Join other Rotarians from 5-8 p.m at the Cilantro and Chive party room in Red Deer. What a great way to connect with other clubs. You do not have to donate blood to be part of the social! Congrats to the Chamber of Commerce
