Lara Alhmidat, Central Alberta Sexual Assault Centre
The Central Alberta Sexual Assault Support Centre (CASASC) is committed to ending sexual violence and helping to build safer communities through promoting awareness and healing, education, empowerment and renewal. They offer counselling, sexualized behavior supports, Court and Community support, prevention education programs for Kindergarten-Gd 12, and support for survivors of sexual assault. All services are at no cost. They also offer a 24 hour sexual violence help line. Call or text 1 866 956-1099. Lara shared that during 2021, 1005 clients accessed 3 372 counselling sessions . School based programs have a waiting list with 562 programs held during the 2021-22 school year. It was shocking to hear that during a recent survey that 45% of Alberta residents have had someone perpetuate sexual violence against them. Gloria thanked Lara for the information as it highlighted a concerning issue in todays changing world.

Happy/Sad and other Fun Things
Don O: Get well wishes and buck for Sheryl K as she is home sick today which is why he is the Sarge today. Congratulation bucks to Leann and Sheryl K for the St. Patrick's gathering at the Legion. Green beer and Irish stew were consumed, music of the pipes was appreciated, and all wore green!.
Gerry W: Frustrated and sad buck for the unwanted graffitti placed on Sunnybrook United Church on the weekend.
Orlyn: Apology bucks for missing his 50/50 shift at a recent Rebels game. It is a struggle when you work in time management to stay on schedule!

St. Patrick's Day Social
The Red Deer Legion was the scene of the recent celebration and wearing of the green. All were excited to get together, share stories, refreshments, and snacks. Green accessories were the order of the day and club members did not disappoint!

Vocational Talk
Eric Madsen returned to Rotary after a brief absence. He is currently the owner of Prime Boiler Services. International travel has enabled him to broaden his horizons and perspectives on the world and his awareness of his place in it. Eric shared his views on leadership as places to work together on a shared mission and being open to change and new ideas. We welcome Eric back to Rotary as he looks for new opportunities to be involved with the community, develop relationships, and continue to grow personally.
Community & Project Updates
A very informative meeting was held regarding our International Service last week. Enthusiastic and energetic attendees learned about the various ways this club has supported international initiatives. Kudos to Vangi for organizing it.
Official Opening of Red Deer Rotary East Community Kitchen
Tuesday, April 4 is the day to join Red Deer Rotary East at the official opening of the Community Kitchen for the Food Bank. We will be gathering at 6 p.m to celebrate this great event. Look for an official invite in the coming weeks. Please note that there will not be a meeting on Monday April 3.
