Weekly Meeting Update
Warm welcome from Robert M for the Valentine’s Day meeting.
Members and guests were greeted by specially decorated tables (thanks Adele ), and instrumental music from the talented Darrel Mullen
Many members took advantage of the meeting to treat their spouses for a special Valentine’s Dinner that included carnations and chocolate dipped strawberries.
Visiting Rotarians included Victor &Thelma Maris (Sylvan Lake) and Elana (Red Deer Rotary East)
O’Canada and prayer led by Robert M. and accompanied by Derrel Mullen.

Marriage and Relationship Tips
Harvey and Carol shared their insights for a long and happy married life after 40 years. Singing during courtship (and no times after that!) and being adaptable, considerate, supportive and willing to accept other opinions is key.
Adele and Darrel spoke of their meeting at the Black Tie Bingo and the resulting events. A successful silent auction bid on CD/DVD player, unsuccessful bid on a diamond ring and impeccable manners played a role in their union. Both spoke of their love for fun and respect for each other.
Thanks to Phil and Brenda, Jerry and Anita for participating in “ Who is Better at….?” Both couples entertained the group with their differences of opinions and knowledge of their spouse.
Happy/Sad and other Fun Things
Jerry: Acquired a vintage LP and donated it to the club history archives. It commemorates the Innisfail school band led by Keith Mann when they performed at the Spokane World Expo in 1974. Rotary played an important role in that endeavor.
Robert L: Encourages all to attend President Darcy’s presentation on Wednesday Feb 15 , 7 pm. at the Museum. He will be sharing highlights of 100 years of Rotary in Red Deer.
Cheryl: Spent the weekend painting the box of a restored grain truck.
Adele: Card circulated for Jim McPherson who now has a new hip. We wish him speedy healing and a quick return to our meetings.

All were challenged by the trivia contest that required knowledge of the background to Valentine’s Day and its customs. We have a very knowledgeable club when it comes to obscure facts!!! Winners were treated to more chocolate strawberries.

Community & Project Updates
The Belize Literacy Alive Team in action. Meetings and school visits will begin on Wednesday and everyone is so excited. Everyone will be there on Friday to continue working with the wonderful Belize teachers and school leaders.

The *new* Logo
Rotary 100
Garth shared the Rotary 100 logo which will be used on all communications during this special year.
Rotary Shirts in Gold and Rotary Blue are going to be ordered to promote the 3 Red Deer Rotary club and 100 Anniversary Celebrations. Samples were shared and more information to be coming.
Official Public Launch: Feb 24 at the Red Deer Rebels game. Invitation extended to all Red Deer Rotary Clubs to participate. Wear your best yellow/gold/ blue to show your pride in Rotary!!!
