Mayor Cindy Jefferies shared her story with members.  Cindy came to Red Deer in 1978 and attended LTHS where she met her future husband, Dan.  While still in high school they created a profitable small painting company where the best purchase was a paint sprayer.  Dan became an accountant and Cindy pursued a BA in communications, a degree that has stood her in good stead.

Cindy has always placed a high priority on advocacy, building relationships, and examining ways in which to meet the future demands of organizations and communities.  She continues to use her knowledge of community development to guide decisions, building strength through community.

Her first venture in politics was an unsuccessful bid to be Class President.  1995 saw Cindy, a mother of 2 young children, successfully become elected to the Red Deer Public School Board.  She served for 9 years, 6 as chair.  The knowledge gained about the importance of community development and providing students with opportunities to reach their potential was invaluable.  Cindy served 4 terms as city counsellor and was elected Mayor in 2025.   She has been involved with a wide variety of community organizations such as 100 Women Who Care.

Cindy and her late husband Dan have 3 sons, a delightful granddaughter, and an enthusiastic dog, Kaslo.   Welcome Cindy to Rotary!
