Rotary Meeting: September 9th 2013
This week's Sarge was Ray Dunham who prolonged the agony of Eskimo and Rider fans until later in the meeting.
Visiting Rotarians: Ray Miller of Red Deer East, Ray McBeth of Edmonton Downtown
Guests: Ingrid Anderson, Rob Goring, and in-bound student Victoria.
Happy-Sad Bucks: The Sarge had 5 bucks for the Bombers win yesterday. Gerry Winia is looking for some good club support for the upcoming Terry Fox Run on Sunday. Graham Schofield had some announcement bucks for a Stantec BBQ to be held at City Hall Park September 10th in support of the Red Deer Food Bank. Ian Warwick had some announcement bucks for the upcoming Fall Turkey Supper put on by the ladies of Sunnybrook Farms. It's coming up Oct 1st ,2nd, and 3rd. Tickets are 15 dollars. Cindy Jeffries had 26 dollars for 26 years of marriage. Bre Fitzpatrick had five dollars for her first three white hairs, competing in the Cause Canmore Race, and great upcoming weather for the Golf Classic. Phil Maczuga is getting ready to mail the Finnish flag back to Anni. Craig Mackenzie had some fluoride free toothpaste for Ken Johnston. Dr. Bob Lampard had some happy bucks for a great trip to Europe.
50-50 Draw: Gloria Beck did a great job, but didn't pull the joker.
Sarge reminded the club of the anniversary of 9-11 today with a touching story of the generosity of the citizens of Gander, Newfoundland when planes were stranded there during the terrorist attacks and afterwards. He then relieved all Saskatchewan and Edmonton CFL fans of a little cash.
Victoria gave us an update on her week which included a trips to Sylvan Lake and Edmonton, as well as her first week of school.
Jim McPherson spoke on behalf of the Mac and Cheese Luncheon committee and a cheque was presented to Ingrid Anderson of the Red Deer Royals for $70,373. Half of that amount will go for new uniforms, and the other half will go to the Royals alumni and building fund.
Guest Speaker: We had two vocational talks: Ray Rogers and Janet Wilson.
