Rotary Meeting: September 16 2013

ImageStepping into the president's role was Marc St. Pierre who announced guests and visiting Rotarians. They included President of the RDC Student Association Martin Cruz,  RDC Board & Corporate Relations Executive Director Elaine Vandale, our inbound student Victoria, Allan Melbourne of Red Deer East, Neal Bird, Joe and Ray Miller.

Ken Johnston was Sergeant at Arms and felt outsourced since Marc had already read the names of our visitors.

Happy/Sad Bucks included:  Ken got over his initial reservations, and had happy dollars for his recent retirement party at Scotiabank.  There were announcement bucks for the Black Tie Bingo .. mark your calendars for October 24th. There will be a wine tree and members are encouraged to bring a bottle of premium wine, or contribute a cash donation.  Garth Olson will happily accept both.  Ron Woodward had happy bucks for his recent travels, Russ Vlad had happy bucks for the recent successful Stantec food drive.  They collected over 10,000 pounds of food and over $8,000.  

50-50:  Victoria... drew the ace of clubs.

ImageThe Sarge then took a dollar from everyone who hasn`t donated to the Cancer Society this year, members with a company pension plan, and those who were wearing a suit.  

Victoria gave the Club an update on her activities which included a trip to Waterton International Peace Park and a bear sighting. 

Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker was Joel Ward, RDC President with a presentation on the "State of Post Secondary".
