Rotary November 4th 2013 -- Special Remembrance Day Meeting
President: Darcy Mykytyshyn.
Sergeant at Arms: Blaine Newton commented on the 14 inches of snow Red Deer received over the weekend, glad everyone made it to the meeting safely.
Guests of Rotary: Don Love - Past President, Major Jason Schneider, Kristine Bugagyon, Carson Gross of the Red Deer Royals. Sergeant

Visiting Rotarians: Victoria Debonnet, inbound student, Isabelle Leuemer of Red Deer Sunrise (inbound student from Switzerland)
Happy-Sad bucks included: Janice Wing had announcement bucks for Foundation Month and also read a story that reminds us in WWII, Rotarians in the Netherlands were considered a subversive group. Gail Surkan had happy bucks to be in uniform. Dick McDonell had happy bucks to be wearing the lapel pin of his ancestors. Ross Fletcher had happy bucks for a month of travel to China and Tibet. Jack Donald had happy bucks for 58 years of marriage to Joan. Don O'Dell collected a football bet from Ray Dunham. Gerry Winia had announcement bucks for Foundation contributions, and thanks for the Allies for their assistance in liberating Europeans during the war. Craig Mackenzie had happy bucks to remember his father's service during the war and the mercy of an enemy sharpshooter. Dr. Bob Lampard had happy bucks for a chapter he is writing on WWI medicine in Alberta.
50-50: Isabelle had the lucky ticket, but didn't pull the winning card.
Blaine fined anyone not wearing a poppy, and anyone who owns a snowblower.
Ron Woodward and Dick McDonnel presented cheques totalling $105,000 to Kristine Bugagyon for the District Community Foundation Endowment Fund.
The Last Post was played, followed by two minutes of silence.
Ron Woodward introduced our guest speaker, Sergeant James Wyszynski.
The Rotary Club of High River will be holding a dinner December 15th for people struggling after this summer's flood. More details are to follow but they are looking for volunteers to help feed 700-1000 people. They are also asking for financial support.
Next Meeting: November 18th 2013 North Hill Inn 12 PM. There will be two vocational talks.
