Our recycled Chairperson for the week was Merv Thurmeier, and our Sargent at Arms was none other than Ray Dunham who commented that a competition should be held to determine which of the Past Chairs was "rode the hardest and put away the wettest".  Ray thought maybe Merv would win that contest.

Guests of Rotary included Stefan LePalme (our outgoing student), Grace Zhang, Janice Kong, and Anni (our inbound student).

Happy/Sad Bucks:  Past President Ken Johnston used his happy bucks to make a very special announcement.  Carole Verrault spoke of the success of the Hearts Desire Gala, which raised a lot of money for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. There was thanks from Margaretrose Willms on the recent announcement of her son RJ Willms being Red Deer Young Citizen of the Year.  Bre Fitzpatrick passed along thanks and congratulations to the Earl's team for their big win in the "Red Deer Sings" competition. Phil MacZuga regretfully shared that "Spark a Memory" will be cancelled at Camp Alexo because of reduced interest.  Also Dr. Bob Lampard announced five surprise dollars for being awarded one of only three University of Alberta Centennial Awards.  Congratulations!

Blaine Newton announced he will be in a "Best-Of" BullSkit show May 23rd and tickets are available at Sunworks.

Ray Dunham then had everyone in stitches with a list of church bulletin typos.

Anni reported she recently went to Edmonton with other inbound students, toured the legislature, met the Lieutenant Governor, and toured a waste management centre.  She got to West Edmonton Mall, but only after being stuck in an elevator.

Speaker: Our special speaker was Rick McFerrin, founder and executive director of Two-Wheel View. It is a charity that reaches hundreds of youth across Canada and the U.S. with a focus on bicycles and cycling.  McFerrin says it changes kids lives from the seat of a bike, by helping them with self-esteem and the skills to make better choices.  Rick started the charity haver a 743 day, 14,708 mile, 43 country bike tour with his family.  Two-Wheel View is Calgary-based and they are now taking applications for programs in 2014.

There will be no meeting May 20th because of the holiday.

Our next meeting is May 27th at 12 PM, Executive Inn.
