Rotary Meeting June 3rd 2013
Our rotating President this week was Phil Hyde, who appealed to anyone good at woodworking if they would be able to fix our flagstand. Our Sergeant at Arms was Don O'Dell.
The Sarge began by taking the last rotating president, Ken Johnston, to task for forgetting to acknowledge Rotary Birthdays last week. Unfortunately for Ken, it was our Sarge's birthday as well, and Ken is now a little lighter in the wallet. We're just glad he wasn't asked to sing. Turns out the Sarge was indeed glad to celebrate his birthday this year, after falling into a dumpster, landing on his feet, and coming out alive.
Guests of Rotary included Serge Gingras, Greg Clark, Stefan Lapalme, Grace Zhang, and Janice Kong.
Visiting Rotarians were Jim MacSween of the Sylvan Lake Club, and Erik Anderson from Wetaskiwin.
Happy/Sad Bucks this included happy bucks from Janice Wing on the 89th birthday of her mother, Bre Fitzpatrick with happy bucks for help with some important decisions, as well as her improved health. Also of note, Wednesday is the date for the Mac and Cheese Luncheon and there are still a few tickets left.
The 50-50 ticket this week went to Stefan Lapalme, who unfortunately did not pick a joker.
Blaine Newton read the membership report which included second reading for Janice Kong and Grace Zhang.
Our vocational talks for the week were from Jamie Jacques and Richard Hammond.
