Question:
What happens when, a group of Rotary Clubs led by the Rotary Club of Aurora Gungahlin (RCAG) Canberra, get together?

Answer:
A Canberra based Powerchair football team can be formed!
A group of great kids now have the hardware to compete in interstate Powerchair Football competitions and hopefully one day the Australian POWEROOS.

How this happened:
Two boys from Harrison School Michael and Aaron, and their two teachers sort and gained the support of RCAG, to raise the funds to purchase 8 new Powercharis from the USA.

Rightly so, John Platten President of RCAG, was a very proud man on Friday 30 October 2020, at the National Hockey Centre in Lyneham, for a gathering of soccer enthusiastic kids, Rotary and key sponsors,  as he watched the delivery and launch of the 8 special Powerchairs.

On behalf of RCAG he thanked their sister Rotary clubs of Yass, Hall, Jerrabomberra, Ginninderra, Belconnen who helped financially.  It shows that if the cause is worthwhile and there is a human side to the project then Rotary not just RCAG benefits.  The majority of funds came from The Rotary Clubs of Aurora Gungahlin (RCAG), Hall, Yass, Ginninderra, Jerrabomberra, Belconnen and private member donations.  One family donated $10K. The remainder of funds came from non-profit organisations and companies - Thinklogical, NetApp, Nettalp, Aspen Medical, Armadillos and the Snow Foundation.

Transportation from Minnesota USA to Canberra was provided by - Capital Region Muscular Dystrophy, Queanbeyan Rodeo Committee, EDI International Freight and Classic Couriers Canberra.

The quote of the day came from Michael “Pinch me, it’s a dream”
