On April 9, the Rotary Club of Okotoks participated in the Okotoks "Canada Becomes A Nation" celebration held in Okotoks.  The club members gathered with other service organizations, the RCMP, fire Department, scouts, air and sea cadets, veterans, town councilors and citizens to honor the Canadian soldier at Vimy Ridge.  There was a short march to the Cenotaph where a ceremony of remembrance was held, and then a return to the Elks Hall for refreshments.  A historical display of the Battle of Vimy Ridge was set out for viewing; and town councilor and Rotarian, Stephan Clark,  presented the story of Vimy Ridge.  Included in his speech were readings from letters written by soldiers from Okotoks who wrote home about the battle.  All in all, a special day of remembrance and honor to our veterans.
