Response tothis initiative has been excellent, indicative of the desire of Rotarians and others to help! $3850 in "lunch money" for the Soup Kitchen with over 20 donors. The page has also been shared over 20 times on Facebook bringing in non-Rotarian donors as well.
For those who missed it, in place of the Rotary lunch we don't have to buy each week, lets share our lunch (money) with those who are struggling. If you still want to support the Soup Kitchen through Do Goodery and your circumstances warrant (not everyone's do) tap on the following link and help! Drew Kessler, Past District Governor, District 7210 (north of New York City) spoke at our Monday online meeting attended by 33 members. Drew challenged us to make all members...new and seasoned, old and young, men and women.... feel "WELCOME and WANTED"! He asked if each of us does that now? Time to reflect! He gave some great examples and raised some great issues. Household memberships (a Rotarian Magazine for him, a colouring book for his child, a comic book for his 10 yr old); Age based Rotary dues. Flexibility....if it comes to job vs Rotary....we know who wins. The full meeting, including his presentation can be found at the following link.
A nice addition to Mondays meeting was a "Rotary Quiz" with wannabe Irish Lass (Kim Davis) as the winner of an Irish Gift Basket. Of course the basket was re-purposed from St Paddy's Day. Next meeting will also have a giveaway provided by President Sherry.
Ribfest - Unfortunatelythis event has has been cancelled with hopes to reschedule when we get the "worlds' permission.
Bulk Oats for the Food Bank - The club has agreed to support the bulk delivery of 16 tons of oats to the Food Bank for repackaging for families. This project is lead by Lethbridge East and requires about $2,000. Is there any monthly team without a project!!! Just saying.
Due to business pressures Kelli-Rae has resigned from the board and Kaela Corazza will handle Public Relations in her place. Kaela needs "Videos of Inspiration" and "Why Rotary videos".
Lastly....don't forget your Rotary Friends. Some of you were fined and tasked to "call a Rotarian" this week. Please do it!
